My 24 Hour Dilemma

Happy Leap Year!

Tomorrow we have an extra twenty-four hours. Imagine the possibilities, all the things that could be accomplished!

Why I could clean my whole house.  Key words would be invoked for encouragement: Declutter! Organize! HELP ME! Yeah, too boring. Plus I've named the dust bunnies living under my sofa. And you can't clean what you name...er, or something like that.

I could finally finish that super cool project I found on Pinterest.

What I think I'd be doing

What I'd really do
Faced with a day of nothing to do (ha!) I turned to Hot Builder to get a man's suggestion. He could only think of one thing: BOOKS, people, BOOKS!

Hot Builder here. Despite what my lovely wife has written,  I did not suggest books. In fact I said se--

Several books!!! *narrows my eyes at Hot Builder*  Clearly not impressed, he gives me this *look*. Men...

Anyway, here are the books in my To Be Read pile that would love some of your time.

Contemporary:

Lousia Edwards Hot Under Pressure
Lisa Kleypas Rainshadow Road
Susan Mallery  Only Us

 Historical

Katharine AsheWhen A Scot Loves a Lady
Sophie Barnes How Miss Rutherford Got Her Groove Back
Sabrina Jeffries  A Lady Never Surrenders

Paranormal:

  Zoe Archer  Devil's Kiss
  Kresley Cole  Lothaire
Molly Harper  Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors

So many choices, so much time!!! What will you do with your "extra" 24 hours?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Sadly, I have to clean. We're having visitors for my son's 8th birthday. What you're planning sounds so much better, I hate the mop and bucket. :/

    3. Thanks for the birthday wishes! Where does the time go, seems like only yesterday I held him in my arms...

And yes, Deb, big birthday party this year. He's having a pool party which should be great fun. :) :)

  2. Apparently my employer forgot this is an extra day tossed in for fun, and they expect me to work! Can you believe it? Have fun!

And in the interest of shameless self-promotion, three of the Lady Scribes also have historical romances released this month if anyone wants to add to their TBR pile: Lily George's "Captain of Her Heart", Heather Boyd's "Engaging the Enemy", and my book "Miss Hillary Schools a Scoundrel". ;D

    1. No way. The nerve of your employer! ;)

And please self-promote all you like. Everyone could use more books for their TBR piles!!! :))

  3. Well... I will be spending the 29th practicing for my reading tomorrow night at Lady Jane's Salon Raleigh-Durham. Practice, practice, practice. You don't want to get up in front of a room of people and stumble over your own words, and end up looking like an idiot. (Something I don't enjoy doing, btw - the looking like an idiot part... I'm actually excited to be reading at LJS RDU.)

Oh, yeah, and working the day job. Like Samantha, someone forgot to give my boss the memo about it being an extra free day. ;) Sheesh!!! Who knows how much practice I could get in, otherwise.

Have fun with whatever you end up doing.

    1. I'll be there, too, Ava with my Colin Firth chasing friend, MK! hee! You always look so cool and collected when you speak or read in front of people. I admire you for that. I'd be a nervous wreck!

I think Feb. 29th should be a National Holiday, then you could get lots done. ;)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I'm celebrating! It's my birthday baby! When I get a real one, I like to do something special!

Fingers crossed dh will be able to take the afternoon off from work. I'm hoping for a fun lunch date, because I'm spending the evening at Lady Jane's Salon RDU and listening to the fabulous Ava Stone read from her not-yet-released novella! Kianna Alexander and Mari Freeman are reading too--it should be a great night!

    1. Happy Birthday tomorrow, Deb!

Since your "real" birthday only happens every 4 years, I think you're aging only a quarter as fast as the rest of us, right? I suddenly have songs from the Pirates of Penzance popping in my mind. :)

    2. Happy Birthday early, Deb!!! That's so awesome. I haven't met but maybe a handful of people that were actually born on the 29th. And yes, Ava, she's def aging slower than the rest of us. ;)

Deb, I'll have to buy you a birthday drink at Lady Jane's tomorrow night!!

      Thanks for stopping by!

    3. Omg how cool is that though! I've never met anyone who's birthday was on the 29th! Happy Birthday, Deb! Enjoy it! You guys have fun tomorrow night! And good luck, Ava, although I'm with Marquita you always shine in the spotlight!

  6. I'm going to be writing like a mad woman. I've got two projects that I'm desperately trying to get finished, so the extra day is just that--an extra day of writing time.

  7. Ugh I'll be working on edits actually. I have one day left before it goes to the editor and I've got a few minor changes that beta readers suggested. So yay! But one more day and then one last final edits and I'm done with this story. Ready to move on to the next. So enjoy your day of reading, Marquita, it sounds luxurious!

  8. Well, for me, it's just another day. I'm going to drag Little Dude to the hairdresser with me, but if that's a no-go, then we might just hit the library and do some cleaning up/laundry. But, I get to go to Lady Jane's tomorrow night, so that's an amazing end to an extra day!
Marquita, your TBR pile looks awesome. I am going to be picking up Sarah McLean's A Rogue by Any Other Name and Lisa Kleypas's Rainshadow Road soon. I just finished Anna Randol's debut A Secret in Her Kiss- and it was fabulous! I finished Samantha's Miss Hillary before that, and loved it too. :) SO many good books out today. I like the look of Maya Bank's The Tattooed Duke (that cover, OMG) and Katherine Ashe's When a Scot Loves a Lady- that excerpt she read at LJS was funny *and* hot!

    1. I'm really excited about Lady Jane's, too, Olivia!

Girl, my TBR pile is huge. I had to narrow it down to 3 a piece or my blog would be nothing but a list of books. It makes me really happy that there are sooo many author writing fabulous books!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  9. There is so much I need to do. For instance I need to organize my scrapebooking supplies that have decided to become out control. However, chances are that is going to be a last thing I do before the packers come in April.
To me it's just another day that happens to fall in February.

Good luck organizing, and thanks for stopping by!

  10. Happy Leap Year to you, too! I'll be auditing a little, cleaning a little, and hopefully reading a lot! Thanks for all the good suggestions on what to read after I finish the pile that's on my nightstand. Keep those suggestions coming. And, of course, I'm looking forward to going to Lady Jane's Salon tomorrow as well! : )

  11. Another great funny blog. Well I have to go to work tomorrow too, but since I am pretending we actually have an extra 24 hours I would spend my time reading and trying to get caught up on all my favorite books. I have so many good books to read and not enough hours in the day, what a wonderful fantasy!

  13. My plans include grocery shopping and laundry lol. As it is already leap day I can tell you that I have accomplished the grocery, just not the laundry. I'm dragging my feet as I have to use our apartment's onsite laundry until our washer/dryer is delivered on Friday. Um, the highlight of today was my official job offer!!! I will not have a seamless transition from the Army to civilian life with my new career at Dollar General!!! Anyways. I love you sis!
