An Interview (and Giveaway!) with Love Inspired Suspense Author Terri Reed

Happy October, everyone! This is traditionally the month of all things spooky and suspenseful, so it seems particularly appropriate that I play hostess to fellow Love Inspired author Terri Reed. Her latest book, The Doctor's Defender, is an October release for Love Inspired Suspense.

Here's a little background on Terri before we begin the interview:

At an early age Terri Reed discovered the wonderful world of fiction and declared she would one day write a book.  Now she is fulfilling that dream and enjoys writing for Harlequin’s Love Inspired lines. She is an active member of both Romance Writers of America and American Christian Fiction Writers. She resides in the Pacific Northwest with her college-sweetheart husband, two wonderful children, and an array of critters. LG: What made you choose to write inspy suspense? 

TR: I write suspense because it is what I gravitate to when I read for pleasure. I started writing for the inspirational market because my worldview is Bible based and my characters were a reflection of my beliefs so it seemed a natural fit.

LG: How do you get in the mood to write?

TR: A cup of coffee or tea at hand, music from my iTunes and I read the last few paragraphs of what I’d finished with the previous session to get back to where I am in the story and then I write. 

LG: Have you considered writing in another genre? 

TR:Yes and I intend to one day.  I have story ideas for more mainstream thrillers and women’s fiction stories as well as some contemporary romance ideas.  I’ve also started a historical that one day I’ll go back to. 

LG: Name one historical figure who inspires you.   

TR: Eleanor Roosevelt.

LG: Finish this sentence: "If I couldn't write, I would..."

TR: "...be an FBI agent."

LG: Lightning round! Choose 1:

LG: Tell us about your next project.

TR: Upcoming in March 2013 The Cowboy Target, the fourth book in the Protection Specialists series. 

When someone targets widower Wyatt Monroe, framing him for murder and endangering his precious daughter, he has no choice, but to accept the protection of the pretty, petite blonde who looks more like a kindergarten teacher than a bodyguard.  Ex-deputy sheriff turned bodyguard, Jackie Blain arrived at the Wyoming ranch at the request of her uncle, but soon finds herself determined to not only keep her uncle’s employer, Wyatt and his daughter safe, but to prove the handsome cowboy’s innocence.  Amid hidden agendas, flying bullets and strained family relations, Wyatt and Jackie forge a deep bond that proves stronger than the evil trying to take their lives.
