Ah, the weekend. It's most people's favorite two days of the week. Stress free and relaxation. Time for catching up on everything and spending time with family.
Until the realization sets in that you have soccer games, yard work, chores, shopping and eleven billion other things to do. Suddenly, what was supposed to be relaxing turns into "Hurry up, we're gonna be late-for everything!" and then on Sunday night, "Why didn't you tell me you had a project due first thing Monday morning that requires items that can only be found on the other side of town at a store that's only open every other Tuesday?!"
ARRRRRRGGGG!!!! *deep breath...Think of a cute puppy and her stuffed lamb*
| Cuddles the dog aka my youngest "sister". This is her happy face and her sad face...and her, well, you get the picture. ;) |
This weekend, Hot Builder and I are going on a couples date. It's the perfect trifecta of great friends, great food and no kids. Yeah I said it: NO KIDS. I have been looking forward to this date forever, mostly because we don't get to go out alone that often. Don't get the wrong idea: We really do like spending time with our kids and taking them places.
Stop laughing; I'm serious. <G>
Anyway, I am really excited about my Big Date!
So, what are your plans this weekend?
Have fun!!! No big date for me. I will be cleaning, organizing and getting rid of junk. Or, maybe I will ignore the cobwebs (we are close to Halloween) and write instead. Oh, decisions!
ReplyDeleteJane, your weekend plans are making *me* exhausted.;) I vote for writing! Sorry, I'm an enabler of writers whose books I want to read. :D
DeleteCongrats! I can only imagine how hard it must be for parents to find time to be alone together, with the kiddos around all the time.
ReplyDeleteMy plans? I'm off to get my nails done with some girlfriends this morning, and then later Erin Knightley and I are doing something. We haven't decided what yet. LOL. Other than that, I have no idea. I might go see a movie. I haven't done that yet, since I moved to NC...even though I've talked about it several times.
Thanks Catherine. We are excited. I believe we are going to a comedy show, which right now I think everyone desperately needs. Laughter is the best medicine? :)
DeleteOH! You should go see Pitch Perfect. I've heard such great things about it. :) Hope you have lots of fun!
I think I'm going to go see it tomorrow with Tammy Falkner. :)
DeleteHappy date, Marquita! I hope you have a wonderful time. And I know how devoted to your kids are, so no need to justify. :)
ReplyDeleteThis weekend my little one is marching in The Handmade Parade, where everyone marches with a banner or hat or what-have-you that they made themselves. Fun!
Aw, thanks, Katharine. Silly mommy guilt, I know. :)
DeleteWhat a great idea and how adorable. I hope you get lots of pictures. :)
I love when my hubby and I get kid-free time, which is more often since they are older. Our youngest is very social and receives lots of invitations to sleepover with friends. Then our son is content to watch movies or play video games as long as we feed him. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have anything planned for this weekend, because I'm on-call for work. Ugh. That means I'll probably end up working part of the weekend and my house will look like a disaster area. I don't know what it is about me being gone, but things get messy. Maybe they're having a party.
YAY! Samantha, it's so nice to know that I have something to look forward to as my kids get older besides major attitude. ;p
DeleteI wonder if you could set up a hidden camera?
Marquita ~ I would love, love, love to do absolutely nothing this weekend. BUT I'll be at a soccer game bright and early Saturday morning. Then I have to pick up my dog from my ex-in-laws since they've been watching him while the outside of my house was being repaired. THEN a certain scientist has it in his mind that we're painting my kitchen this weekened. I'm not sure where he got that idea, but I'm pretty sure there isn't anything I can do to talk him out of it. :)
ReplyDeleteI really need a weekened where I do absolutely nothing, however.
Ava, our soccer games are at 9, so we have to be there at 8:30. I'm guessing it's the same for y'all, too. What are these people thinking?
DeleteOh that scientist, always up to something! ;)
Hopefully that weekend will come very soon.
Marquita,
ReplyDeleteHave a great date! Hubs took me out to lunch and a movie yesterday while the kidlets were in school. That is the ONLY way we get alone time. Since BDB is working this weekend, I plan to indulge in that "going nowhere and doing nothing" plan. Except, of course, feeding little people, breaking up fights, scrubbing toilets, washing dishes, destaining laundry, sweeping floors, and general wifery awesomeness. I'm sure there will be time to scratch my butt at least once. Right? ;{
What movie did you see, Andris? Well, thank God and three cheers for compulsory education. ;)
DeleteI think you should bottle general wifery awesomeness and sell it. I know I'd buy it to use on those days where I felt considerably unawesome. LOL!
Hubby's birthday is tomorrow and after I give him his surprise birthday gifts that I know he will love, we are going out for dinner. I'm making special cupcakes with fluffy creme de menthe frosting. We'll have one for dessert. On Sunday morning we are meeting our daughter and two granddaughters at the park for a picnic. I'll take the rest of the cupcakes to the girls. A full weekend and looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone has a fun and happy weekend!
Connie, That sounds like an awesome weekend! I know you will have a great time! :)
DeleteWorking hard and playing hard! And looking forward to Valiant Husband and Youngest coming home!
ReplyDeleteYAY for Valiant Husband and Youngest coming home! Hope y'all have fun! :)
Deleteenjoy your date :)
ReplyDeletei don't have any plan this week
