5 Happy Things!

Life is careening at a thousand miles an hour these days.  Valiant Husband and I both have busy schedules, as do the two boys.  It makes for a hectic time, but I wanted to share some of the things that are making me stop and enjoy life for a few moments.

Warm Weather is Back and the Trees are Budding

Last week it was sleeting.  Today it's 80 degrees.  Ack!  I'm just happy that I got to work on the deck yesterday.  I'm ready for Spring!  Even though the dreaded yellow pollen is about to hit.  I'm just happy for a break from the gloom.  Also, the trees are finally getting serious about budding.  It's almost as green as it is brown outside of my window, and soon the leaves will be out, my view of the neighbors will be blocked and I'll be living in my green oasis again.

Eldest is Driving!

I know, this seems like a scary thing.  It is!  I can hardly believe he's so grown.  I'm nervous, but he's thrilled to have a new level of independence.  Even though I can see some face-offs coming over who gets the car, I'm still rubbing my hands together and envisioning someone else finally doing some of the grocery shopping and taxiing around here!

Sunday Night TV

Why is it always feast or famine?  For so long it seems like as if there's nothing to watch.  Once Downton was over (so short a season!) it seemed like I only had Castle to look forward to.  Now I've got Game of Thrones and Vikings both on Sunday night--and Mad Men just started on Sundays too!  I'm going to enjoy the glut while I can.

A New Niece!

My sister had a baby!  Her third, because she is braver than me.  :-)  Her name is Lila, she looks just like my sister did when she was a baby, and she's a big and healthy girl.  I'm loving the pics and hoping I get to hold her myself when we visit in a couple of months.

A New Release!

This is what I have instead of a new baby.  :-)  I am excited about it, though!  The Love List comes out in less than 2 weeks and is the first full length novel in my new Half Moon House Series.  I'm having such fun with it, too!  You can learn more at my website at www.DebMarlowe.com  I hope you will all check it out.

So, what are you happy about these days?  Share with us and I'll give one random commenter a super secret advanced copy of The Love List!

  4. Deb,

I remember when my first got her license. The freedom (for me) was wonderful. Well, at least once I got past the early worries. What makes me happy is knowing I will be in Kansas City attending the RT in less than a month. Can't wait to see the friends I see about only once a year.

Yes, RT should be lots of fun--I'll add it to my list. :-)

  5. Yay for spring and new babies and new books, Deb! Hmmm...what's making me happy at the moment. Well, I am losing weight and starting a new book, but I am starting early enough that I am not under a time crunch. Do those count? :)

  6. Oh a new baby girl! Congrats on your niece! I adore babies. They're like chocolate for me. Uh, not that I eat them. That came out wrong. I just meant they're addictive and comforting and...moving on...
Congrats on the new release too! I love the beautiful cover! So pretty!
Today, I'm thankful for coffee. My clothes dryer died, the dog needs his shots, and my oldest has a project due on Friday. She hasn't started it yet. So, yeah, coffee it is.

    1. LOL, Andris. You are making me think of that moment this season, on Modern Family. Claire is holding her father's new baby and is clearly in heaven, She says something about how addictive they are when they are new and how they only smell this wonderful for a short time,,the conversation goes on until he stops and says, "You do know that you are rubbing that baby all over yourself?" Awkward, but funny!

Thank you! I love the cover too! That Lily Smith is one talented lady! :-)

      Enjoy the coffee!

    2. I suspected that lovely cover was a Lily Smith creation. She knows her stuff!

  7. Deb,
It sounds like you have a lot to be happy for! Congratulations on the new release! I'm happy to have just finished the first draft of my newest book! I'm also really excited for warm weather! I can't stand being cold, and I basically spend winter in a state of never being quite warm enough!

  8. Hi Deb!

I'm happy that the snow is finally gone and we're getting some warmer weather and sunshine! It was a long winter but it makes you appreciate the Spring flowers that are peaking through the soil and will be in full bloom soon!

I'm also thrilled that our next to youngest grandson who is 4 will be coming to visit for a week. It so much fun when you have little ones running around the house again. My husband and I are both taking the week off of work so we'll have lots of time to take him to the zoo and walk the beaches and watch the waves roll in.

Deb, I'm also grateful that have a new book coming out, The Love List! What a great way to kick off Spring!

  9. Hi Jeanne!

How lovely that sounds. 4 years old is such a fun age. I hope you have a great visit.

Yes--so glad for the warmer weather. Although the 80 degrees was a bit of a shocker. I could practically hear my plants and bulbs shouting, "Wait! I haven't done my thing yet! Slow down!"

    :-)

I'm so happy this week, b/c I get to have a girls' weekend with my sister, who lives 13 hours away from me, at the beach with my mom, some of my cousins and my daughter is coming too.

Thanks for posting such happy things for us!

I am so happy that A SCANDALOUS WIFE is now available as an audio book. I've literally jumped up and down with excitement. ;)

And I'm excited to record the latest Romance Ramblings with Jerrica tomorrow night (Live from NEW ORLEANS no less.)

So much going on. Someday, I'll be happy when life slows down just a little. :)

  14. We just returned from a family cruise with our son, DIL and two of our grandchildren. Lots of fun!

Our oldest granddaughter is getting married in June. I can’t believe I’m the grandmother of the bride! (Would someone find me a rocking chair, please?)

My oldest grandson just joined the Marines and I’m so very proud of him.

My niece is due any day now with her second daughter. So exciting!

I’m now a 19-year breast cancer survivor and my recent mammogram was normal! Whew!

In general, life is good. What more could I ask for? I’m so blessed!

  15. Congratulations on the new book, I can't wait to read it.

I am happy because my daughter loves her new school. It is a huge blessing, and has increased the whole families happiness quota.

I am also happy, because Dr. Weil said it was okay to put a teaspoon of unsalted butter in your coffee.

  16. Yay for good school vibes, Gayle. As important to like your school as it is to like your work.

But the butter? Is it supposed to replace cream? Not a coffee girl, so it may be over my head. :-)

  18. Congrats on all the beautiful things in your life! So many tremendous reasons for celebration. I'm happy that after four years, I've finally found a community that I can set roots down in. We've been wandering for four years looking for the perfect place to raise our son, and although I know there is no such thing as perfect, we've finally found a community that embraces us and our son, and there's nothing better than that. Now to find a house. : / I'm trying not to focus on that, as that's the stressful part.

  19. Congrats on your new release and your new niece!

I fractured my wrist in Dec last year & after a long rehabilitation & having to undergo surgery 2 wks ago to correct a complication it finally looks like I'm regaining strength and flexibility in my wrist. It's my dominant hand too so it's been rather trying the last few months.

  21. I'm happy that I have my house back to myself since my son and his girlfriend finally got their own place after three years of living with me. I liked the company, but it's so nice to have my space to myself. I have a couple of projects to complete and then I'll be ready to bring a couple of new companions into the house - I'm going to adopt two kitties.

    1. How nice, Barbara! We are thinking of adopting a kitty this Spring too. Finally ready after losing our lovely girl last Fall.
