What's Your Bag, Baby?

....by Olivia Kelly

Everyone's a fan of something.
Everyone has that one thing they totally and completely geek out over. Some people have more than one, but everyone is part of a special group that simply cannot imagine the world without that particular thing.
My mom is a huge Jon Stewart fan. He regularly sends her into uncontrollable fits of laughter. In her eyes, he can do no wrong.
My husband is a tech geek. If it runs on some sort of code and I can't figure out what's for, much less how to use it, he's cuddling it and whispering "Preciousssss".
My dad's a crossword guy, my boys are over the moon for the Avengers (cartoon) and anything Nerf makes, my cousin worships Apple and all their gadgets.
Me?
Thank you for asking. I happen to have a list right here.

Han Solo.
Malcolm Reynolds and the entire crew of Serenity. (Yes. Even Jayne.)
The Avett Brothers.
The Princess Bride.
Whiskey and Brandy and Vodka, but not together, because I'd die.
Anne of Green Gables.
Hellboy.
The Never-Ending Story.
Brandi Carlile.
The Vampire Diaries. (I ship Klaroline. Shut up. Also, I wish someone would please stake Elena and put us all out of our misery.)
Tacos.
Oxford Commas.
Pink.
Grey.
Using "towards" instead of "toward".
Eddie Izzard.
Eddie Murphy.
Em Dashes.
COKE ZERO.
Old houses with wrap around porches and long windows with creaky wood floors.
Oreos.
Romance novels. (Any kind. I'm not that picky. I just love a Happily Ever After.)
Ellen Degeneres.
Trader Joes Green Tea Mints.
People who use "you" instead of "U" when texting.
COFFEE.
Captain America.
Wolverine.
MR. DARCY.

I can do this all day, folks. These are just a few things that make my life worth living. Take them away and I would be a sad, sorry, droopy gal. Thank goodness for the internet, so they'll be around forever! ;)

What makes you happy? What rings your bell? Frosts your cupcake? What's your bag, baby?

  1. Yay! What a great post for a Friday. Here are my top 10:

My daughter's laugh, my husband's smile, old movies (the older the better), seeing an old barn or old house standing empty in a field, Orbit gum in Sweet Mint flavor, Diet Peach Tea Snapple, thrift stores, finding a back route, listening to my old 78s, and reading fashion blogs when I should be working.

LOL), The Walking Dead, Vikings, The Voice, Daffodils, birds singing in the morning, sunny days, writing 'The End' on a book, reconnecting with friends at conferences, lunch with my friends... I could go on and on, but I won't. :)

  6. I agree, there are tons of things that make my day. A freshly made, plain cake donut, good tea, paddle boarding, sailing, my husband telling me a joke or reading something funny. My son's hugs, seeing my granddaughter, good meatloaf, romance conferences and seeing people I don't get to see often enough. This list is getting much too long. I tweeted.
