Happy Fourth from Lady Scribes!

We Ladies wish you a safe, festive, and relaxing July 4th!

You'd think I'd shut up right there, wouldn't ya? Nope. I'm going to educate ya.

*WARNING* Incoming fun facts!

Did you know...

The Fourth of July was not declared a national holiday until 1941.  Procrastination at its finest?

Benjamin Franklin proposed the turkey as the national bird but was overruled by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, who wanted the bald eagle.  All things considered, we should've gone with turkey.

The first official Fourth of July party was held at the White House in 1801.

Presidents John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe all died on the Fourth. Adams and Jefferson died on the same day within hours of each other in 1826. I suspect Voodoo.

The song "Yankee Doodle" was sung originally by British officers making fun of backwoods Americans. Bullies.

Now that I've ruined your relaxing holiday, go forth and enjoy your fourth!
